The interior minister of Spain is considering banning the Burqa. To the islamic community, the Burqa is considered a symbol of modesty and dignity. The spanish government does not consider it as such, but instead as a threat to security. The ban is said to be apart of a "new security package" that will be installed. During a press conference recently, Breit Bart reported the interior minister, Jorje Fernández Diaz saying '...that now would be a good time to obtain 'a level of consensus' on the proposal." Spain is not the first country in Europe to try to ban the Burqa. According to Breit Bart, "Facial coverings, including niqabs, hijabs and other Muslim forms of headdress are already banned in France, Belgium and Italy. The predominantly Muslim countries of Tunisia and Turkey also have bans in place in public spaces such as universities, schools and government buildings." The ban is a violation of basic human rights and disrespectful to the islamic community. No word has been confirmed if the ban is a definite yet.
