SheRides, a cab company is seeking women of the Islamic and Orthodox Jewish faith to work as drivers and to be riders in New York City. SheRides is a women only cab company that caters specifically to religious women. The cab company slash app has caused a controversy. Though the idea sounds good for most, some say that they think the company is discriminatory of certain genders and religious beliefs. According to NY Daily News," 'SheRides, a controversial planned app linking female livery car drivers with female passengers, hopes to attract devoutly religious women as both cabbies and customers. There’s an untapped labor pool — and customer base — consisting of women whose religious beliefs require they avoid ordinary day-to-day interactions with most men,' said Fernando Mateo, president of the New York State Federation of Taxi Drivers." The app slash cab service, must however get approval from TLC or the Taxi and Limousine Commission to drive through all the boroughs of New York. The photo provided above is courtesy of Tvojetaxi.
