Today, Thursday September 4, 2014 marks World Hijab Day. This was announced by Women and Family Commission at Karachi Press Club (KPC). According to Daily Times, "Women and Family Commission Sindh chapter President Atiya Nisar, addressing the rally said, 'Hijab is the prestige and honour for Muslim women.' She said that the Muslim girls and women should be allowed freedom to spend their lives according to their own vision and choice.' World Hijab Day is empowering for Muslim women around the world, no matter the background. Women in America, Great Britain and more will benefit a day that was made for them. The rally not only paid homage to the Islamic culture, but it brought up feminist issues and awareness. The Daily Times reports, "'The Muslim women are protesting for their legal right, but the self-proclaimed champions of human rights and women rights are not ready to support their basic right of observing Hijab,' she added." World Hijab Day is a necessity in the Muslim women community.
