With the rise of social media over the past five or so years, the spreading of information, news and ideas has become more accessible. The spread of Islamic fashion is no exception. Social media networks such as Pintrest and Instagram has influence the Islamic aspect of fashion. Those two social media networks have helped the popularity of Islamic fashion grow tremendous. One can see the influence with a modern twist on an old culture. The NY Times reported on Ascia Farraj , a Muslim women who took Instagram by storm. She proves that modesty does not mean "frumpy". Farraj shows the the hijab can be fashionable. In the interview with NY Times, Farraj is reported as saying, "Not so long ago, it was considered radical for a Muslim woman to put a picture of her face online, Ms. Farraj said in a phone interview. 'I was one of the first personal style bloggers to show my face.'" Pinterest also influenced the "trendy" hijab movements. When searching through the "hijab" tag or "Islamic fashion" tags, one can see bright colors, floral prints and #OOTD (Outfit of the Day) inspirations.
