In a few months, it will not only be the official winter season, but also party season. Friends and family will host New Years parties. The office might have a holiday party and maybe even some friends will too. It is hard to stay healthy during these months. One minute you are being offered cakes and pies, the next you are offered sugary drinks. Here are some tips on how to stay healthy for the holiday season.

1. Moderation: It can be tempting to eat two slices of pie or have two helpings of that amazing casserole, but it is not healthy. Instead, limit your eating. Try one small slice of pie and maybe stick to one serving of that amazing casserole.

2. Keep on moving: It can be easy to stay indoors and lay on the couch. The cold and rain sometimes makes doing daily tasks difficult; however, you can stay active indoors. Try doing some YouTube workouts, playing the Wii or just getting up and dancing around the house while you clean. The possibilities are endless, but remember to just keep moving!

3. Snacking: Snacking is OK to do. It is recommended by dietitians to have a small snack between meals. If you see a snack tray at a party, help yourself! Try not to go overboard on the snacks and you will do just fine.

4. Eliminate stress: This is easier said than done, I know. The holidays can be a stressful time of the year. Maybe you are planning a New Year's party or attending your sister's nikah, but whatever it is remember to think about your health. When life gets too hectic try making a list of tasks you need to fulfill. As you do them, cross them off. It will show you how productive you are being. Lastly, remember to just breathe!
